It was back-ended by a long  relatively deserted private beach which had beautiful towering cliffs in the distance. Grasses are not the dominant form of plant life here, but of course as I walked the streets I saw many instances of the usual bunch of weedy cosmopolitan species. These included <em>Chloris barbata<\/em>, <em>Paspalum conjugatum<\/em> (?), and <em>Imperata cylindrica<\/em>.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"700\" height=\"672\" src=\"https:\/\/keyapa.com\/sp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/PXL_20251227_052531609.jpg\" alt=\"Cenchrus setosus behind fenced in airfield at airport in El Nido, Palawan.\" class=\"wp-image-2261\" srcset=\"https:\/\/keyapa.com\/sp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/PXL_20251227_052531609.jpg 700w, https:\/\/keyapa.com\/sp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/PXL_20251227_052531609-300x288.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 700px) 100vw, 700px\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\"><em>Cenchrus setosus<\/em> behind fenced in airfield at airport in El Nido, Palawan<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">One of the more noticeable species that seemed like a weed, but which was in fact native to the area, is <em>Cenchrus setosus<\/em>. I found it in disturbed areas, such as drainage culverts along the roads, with the most interesting sighting being behind the fence at the local airport. This species, with its narrow leaves, was obviously adapted to high light conditions.
