Despite a lack of formal education, Julius was an eminent authority on nature, known and welcomed at botanical gardens and zoos. He was also one of the pre-eminent members of the International Aroid Society, a fixture in the organization who was instrumental in its success.
An oral history by Julius is located here.
Julius was enamored of the Meconostigma, and searched far and wide for unique and rare specimens from this group, and participated in investigations to uncover more information about these magnificant Philodendrons.
Julius passed away peacefully Sunday, July 11, 2010.
